Wild mustang artwork
"Spooked!"

Driving back home from a show in Great Falls, Montana, on the northern edge of Nevada, we noticed wild horses and stopped
for a bit. Unbeknownst to us at the time, these horses were wild mustangs that were rescued from BLM.

Anyone who has followed my artwork knows of my love for our wild Mustangs.  Not only are they an amazingly hardy animal,
but to me they represent our freedom in this country. Wild Mustangs have roamed much of our great country for decades, and
have survived in some of the most inhospitable areas that make up our country.

Wild Mustangs were initially brought to the United States by Spanish explorers.  The correct terminology for these horses are
“feral mustangs” since they resemble no true breed. The American West is home to many untamed free-roaming wild horses.

In my belief, the Wild Mustangs that habitat within the United States is as much a part of our history as the cowboy.
Protecting these beautiful creatures is just as vital as protecting any other historical landmark.

Currently, Spooked! is on its way to the
American Plains Artist Show and Sale, in Las Cruces, NM.  To view the entire show
online.
Spooked! can be purchased on the American Plains Artist website. Finished size is 14 x 20.

Horses running
                 "Three Sisters"

This was a fun drawing depicting the silliness of three sisters frolicking in the early spring. Every morning during the
springtime, the three sisters (named Faith, Hope & Charity) would act up and run through the front pasture at top speed.
Charity would always toss her head from side to side, possibly getting rid of the cobwebs from old man winter...

Original pencil drawing.

Cowboy in Montana
"Storm Approaching"

Making my way back from Western Art
Week in Great Falls, Montana, I delighted in
looking at all of the magnificent landscape.
The vast cattle ranches reminded me of
home when I was young.

However, the landscape being so much
different from my hometown made me
realize the difficulties cowboys must have
faced years ago, without the ability to check
the Weather Channel. Cowboys must have
had to be alert to the ever-changing weather
and the affect it could have on their
livelihood.

And that is what inspired this drawing...

Finished size is 12 x 16.

"Tall in the Saddle"

"Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, and ride
like your not afraid..."  This drawing was actually
inspired by a song from Chris LeDoux.

Chris LeDoux (October 2, 1948 – March 9, 2005) was an
American country music singer-songwriter, bronze
sculptor and rodeo champion.

On October 26, 2006 Chris LeDoux was inducted into the
Rodeo Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western
Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The drawing was taken from a photo taken during one of
several summer equestrian events this past year.

Finished size is 12 x 16. Original pencil drawing.
